Most stackers track their metal in a spreadsheet. It holds what you paid and nothing else, so every time you want to know what your stack is actually worth you are looking up four metal prices and doing the arithmetic by hand. Bring that file over once and it stays current on its own.
Where the spreadsheet runs out
A spreadsheet is a fine place to start and most people never outgrow the habit, only the file. These are the four things it cannot do for you, and they are the four you end up wanting most.
- It does not know today's price. Every valuation means opening four price sites, converting to your currency and retyping the numbers, so in practice most sheets get updated twice a year and are wrong the rest of the time.
- It does not know what a coin is. You typed the weight and the purity yourself, and if you typed a gross weight where a pure weight belonged, nothing will ever tell you.
- It mixes up what you paid with what it is worth. Once one column is a live figure and the other is historical, a single sorted view quietly compares two different years.
- It is one file. On one machine. Most stackers have never tested whether they could actually restore it, and an inventory you cannot produce is not much use to an insurer either.
Spreadsheet against vault

Bring the file you already have
You do not have to start again, and you do not have to rename your columns to match ours. Upload a CSV or an Excel file and the app reads your headings, works out which of them mean weight, purity, price and date, and shows you every row it understood before a single one is saved.
- It reads your column names, whatever you called them. Wt, Weight (ozt), Troy oz and Ounces all land in the same place.
- It reads the description too, the way it reads an auction catalog. A row that just says 1 oz PAMP Suisse Silver Bar .999 comes in with its metal, weight, purity and refiner already set.
- It refuses to guess at money. An asking price, an estimate or a reserve is never imported as what you paid, because a fabricated cost would quietly wrong every figure in your vault.
- It refuses an ambiguous date rather than picking one. 03/04/2026 could be two different days, and the metal price on those days is not the same.
- Rows it could not read are shown to you, not dropped. You fix them or add them by hand.
- The file is read in your browser and never uploaded. Only the rows you confirm are saved.
What you can record
Enough to describe the piece properly, and nothing that pretends to be tax advice.
- Metal, gross weight, purity and how many pieces
- Mint or refiner, from a list or typed in yourself
- Year, form and condition
- What you paid, in the currency you paid in, with fees and shipping
- The date you bought it, which is what prices the metal on that day
- Where you bought it, and any note you want to keep
- Gifts and inherited pieces, which cost nothing rather than an unknown amount
- Sale date and sale price, once something goes
It is yours, and you can take it or delete it
Your vault is visible to you alone. We never sell it, never share it, and the only reporting we run against it counts how many people use the feature, never what is in anyone's. Export the whole thing to CSV whenever you like, and delete any of it, or all of it, whenever you like. Deleting your account takes the vault with it.
What it costs
The free plan holds 5 items, which is enough to see whether you like it. Pro and Pro Plus hold as many as you want. If you ever go back to free nothing is deleted: your whole vault stays readable, editable and exportable, and the only thing that stops is adding more.
Questions
Can I import my existing spreadsheet?
Yes, and you do not have to reformat it first. Upload a CSV or an Excel file and the app works out what your columns mean, including when the useful detail is buried in a description rather than in tidy columns. You see everything it found, and what it could not read, before anything is saved.
How is my stack valued?
Against live metal prices, for the metal content only. You see two figures side by side and they are never blended: melt, which is the metal at spot, and a retail estimate, which is roughly what a dealer would ask for the same thing. Melt is a fact and the retail figure is an estimate, so we label them that way rather than showing one number called value.
Does it include collector or numismatic value?
No. It measures metal. A key date, a low mintage, a high grade or special packaging can carry a premium that a metal calculation never sees, so a piece worth far more to a collector will still show here at its metal value. Use it for the metal side and bring your own knowledge for the rest.
Can I track what I sold?
Yes. Mark something sold with the date and the price and it moves out of your stack into its own list, showing what you paid, what you received and the difference, with charts for what came in and which metal it came from. Nothing is deleted, so the history stays. It is arithmetic on figures you entered yourself and it is not tax advice.
What happens to a price I entered wrong?
You correct it, and the correction is recorded as a correction. The original is never overwritten. That is enforced by the database rather than being a promise, which matters for the one number nobody can reconstruct later: what you actually paid.
Can I use more than one currency?
Yes. Switch the whole page between currencies at any time. What you paid always stays in the currency you paid in, because converting a purchase from three years ago at today's rate would produce a number that was never true.
Is it really free?
The free plan holds 5 items and needs no credit card. Pro and Pro Plus remove the limit. Nothing is ever deleted for downgrading.
